A long staircase, completely straight forward. Open door at the top revealing bright light compared with the dark hallway. Take a seat next to the person sitting at the railing. Silence...

I read it again and I suppose I made it seem like someone was being shoved off the edge when really they were just being shoved back into the stairway.
